Course description
Paraprofessionals play essential roles in improving student achievement in schools. They are responsible for reinforcing a teacher's effort in the classroom and providing critical supports to students with disabilities. The role and assignments are not defined by setting or program but rather by students' needs as determined by the IEP.Kay Williams will instruct this three-day training to prepare Special Education Paraprofessionals in their career. This training satisfies the Oklahoma State Department of Education's training requirement for Paraprofessionals. Seating is limited, and advanced registration is required.
Prerequisites for this Course
Pre requisite--Tier 1 must be completed:• Have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education defined as completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework; or• Have obtained an associate’s degree (or higher); or• Have taken and passed the WorkKeys test, Parapro Test or the Oklahoma General Education Test WorkKeys score must be at least a Bronze (3-7) Para Pro Test must be 455+ The WorkKeys test can be taken at Kiamichi Technology Center—580-286-7555.
