This course will prepare participants to safely and effectively perform the skills of blood draw for lab or clinic sites. Participants will learn legal and ethical implications, quality control measures, relevant anatomy related to sites, contraindications, and indications, as well as the cardiovascular system as it relates to arteries and veins. Skills practice on mannequins, live volunteers, and clinical is required for class completion.
No high school diploma required, minimum age 18. In order to complete required clinical experience, Immunizations are required (MMR, Tetanus, Hep B series or declination form, COVID Vaccine, Annual TB Test, Preferred Flu Vaccine), Physical within prior 6 months, and clean drug screening. OSBI Background check required- will complete at Wes Watkins Tech Center on first day.
