Phlebotomy technicians are employed in doctors offices, hospitals, insurance companies, clinics, and blood banks. This training program includes 45 hours of theory/lab in the evening and a 100-hour daytime clinical. The theory/lab portion provides the phlebotomy tech participant with AHA CPR training, Bloodborne pathogens training, the knowledge of equipment and the mechanics involved in the collection of specimens. Participants will be provided with training that will teach them how to perform venipuncture properly and safely. Special considerations and collection procedures will also be covered. The daytime clinical component will be scheduled AFTER successful completion of the theory/lab course. Days and times will vary based on the clinical site's availability. Clinical sites may have additional charges. NOTE: Clinical sites are within a 40-mile radius of PTC. The clinical portion of training must be completed within six (6) months of the theory course end date. An application packet and non-refundable deposit are required. See prerequisites tab for details. Maximum class size: 10 students. The listed price reflects the in-district course cost. Students not living in a career tech district must pay twice the fee listed for this course. Out-of-district cities include (but are not limited to): Mill Creek, Ravia, Coleman, Milburn, Tishomingo, Kingston, Madill, and Turner.

Packet requirements include: • Valid Driver’s License or Government issued photo ID • Social Security Card • High School Diploma, GED, or college transcript • OSBI Criminal History Report issued within 6 months of class start date • Two (2) Negative TB Test Results • Vaccine Records Confirming: MMR 1, MMR 2, Hepatitis B Series (3), Varicella 1 and 2 • 10 Panel Drug Screen • Current Influenza Vaccine. Submit completed packet to the BIS Department using Entrance C (by the pedestrian crosswalk). Upon acceptance, payment is due in full and no later than two (2) weeks prior to course start date. • Students must be 18 years of age prior to going to Clinicals.
