Course description
The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the EMT student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, special considerations for working in the prehospital setting, and providing patient transportation. Students not living in a career tech district must pay twice the fee listed for this course. A detailed student prerequisite packet will be emailed upon receipt of registration fee.Prerequisites include, but are not limited to the following: Educational record; OSBI Criminal History Report (Name Based Only); Two TB Skin Tests; 10 Panel Drug Screen; Immunizations record for MMR 1 and MMR 2, Hepatitis B Series, Varicella 1 and Varicella 2, current Influenza Vaccine; NIMS 100 and NIMS 700 (both available for completion online).
