Dental assistants greatly enhance the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of oral health care. The program offers a balance of academic, laboratory, and clinical experiences to prepare the student to work in this rapidly changing field. Dental Assistants provide instrument transfer during dental treatment, take radiographs (x-rays), prepare dental materials, casts, and impression trays. They educate patients in dental health care, maintain patient records, and sterilize dental instruments. Class includes 90 hours of theory and lab. Cost of the testing is included in the cost of the program without exception. If you would like testing done before the first day of class, an appointment with the health coordinator or instructor is required. The listed price reflects the in-district course cost. Students not living in a career tech district must pay twice the fee listed for this course. Out-of-district cities include (but are not limited to): Konawa, Mill Creek, Ravia, Coleman, Milburn, Tishomingo, Kingston, Madill, and Turner.
Register online. A detailed student application packet, which includes instructions/forms and financial assistance information will be emailed. A completed application packet and $100 non-refundable deposit is due to maintain your pre-enrollment status. Packet requirements include: • Valid Driver’s License or Government issued photo ID • Social Security Card • High School Diploma, GED, or College Transcript • OSBI Criminal History Report issued within 6 months of class start date • Vaccine Records Confirming: MMR 1, MMR 2, Hepatitis B Series (3), Varicella 1 and 2 • 10 Panel Drug Screen • Current Influenza Vaccine.Submit completed packets to the BIS Short-Term Training Department at Building Entrance C.
