Course description
Anyone ages 18+, has a high school diploma or GED, with a desire to be a Phlebotomist in a health care setting my enroll. The possibilities for employment as a Phlebotomist are endless. Physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, clinics, and blood banks are possible areas where you might be employed. The course will cover safety and infection control, circulatory system and lymphatic system, venipunctures, deral puctures, and testing, equipment and skills, employability and job seeking skills. Because this course includes one attempt at the National Healthcareer Association's Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam, students must successfully complete 10 capillary and 30 venipuncture draws in order to sit for the exam. Students are required to wear navy blue scrubs as class uniform.
