Course Objectives:
Understanding FERPA: Gain a basic understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and its purpose in protecting student privacy.
Student Rights: Learn about the rights FERPA grants to students and parents regarding access to and control over educational records.
Educational Records: Understand what constitutes an educational record and the types of information protected under FERPA.
Privacy and Security: Learn best practices for maintaining the privacy and security of student records, including who is allowed access and under what circumstances.
Compliance: Understand the legal and ethical obligations of educators and school staff to comply with FERPA regulations.
